About Us – The Story Behind Lovera Collections

Lovera Collections is a heart-driven tableware brand, founded by us—Louis and Vera (aka Mr. & Mrs. Lovera on social media!). The name "Lovera" is a fusion of our names, and much like our journey, it represents a beautiful blend of love, passion, and perseverance.

What began as Mrs. Lovera’s fascination with unique, beautiful plates—fueled by her love for cooking and hosting—grew into something deeper. After experiencing the heartbreaking loss of our first pregnancy in 2014, Lovera became a way for us to heal and pour our hearts into something meaningful. Our logo, the dandelion, symbolizes light, hope, and healing—the very essence of our journey.

In 2020, after years of trying and a 3rd round of IVF, we were blessed with our first baby. Then in 2022, we were surprised with a second little one, conceived naturally. Our family of four has blossomed just like the dandelion we hold dear. 🌈

Balancing a growing family and running a physically demanding business hasn’t been easy, but our love for beautiful tableware keeps us going. We believe that the right tableware can elevate any dining experience, express one’s personality, and add a touch of elegance, color, and quirk to your home. We’re passionate about offering a wide variety of tableware designs—safe for food use and accessible to all budgets.

Our hope is that our story inspires you, especially if you're on your own journey to parenthood. Stay hopeful, and never lose faith. ❤️

[UPDATE ON BETWEEN 2023-2025]

In our Instagram post dated 11th September 2023 (click to read here), we shared a tough decision we made—closing the doors on Lovera Collections. The reasons were simple but hard to accept: slow sales, not enough cash flow to hire extra help, and the most important factor—our family. At the time, it felt like the right thing to do, and after all, family comes first.

But, as we quickly realized, closing a business isn’t as simple as locking the doors and walking away. It’s more complicated than that. And perhaps, we weren’t as ready to say goodbye as we thought.

The Tough Decision

Lovera Collections has always been a two-person team—plus one part-time help. With Mrs. Lovera primarily at home caring for our young children, it was becoming harder to find the balance between running the business and being present for our family. The sales weren’t enough to support hiring extra help, and with both kids under 4 years old, energy and time became a luxury we couldn’t afford.

The decision to close the business was ultimately made to prioritize our boys. We knew that continuing the business with low revenue, while also trying to manage a young family, wasn’t sustainable for us in the long term. Mr. Lovera decided to pursue a new career path, and Mrs. Lovera stayed behind to clear the remaining stock.

The Unexpected Reality of Closing a Business

What we didn’t anticipate, though, was how long and difficult the process of actually closing the business would be. The clearance sale we launched in September 2023 began with a 40% discount, hoping to move the remaining stock. At that point, we had over $230k worth of inventory to clear. The sale progressed to 50%, and by mid-2024, we had only been able to clear about $100k worth of stock.

Currently, we're down to about $30k worth of stock, but... here's the twist: we’re not as sure about closing the business anymore.

Reassessing the Future

With both of our kids now in preschool, Mrs. Lovera has found more time in her day. The juggling act between business and family, though never easy, has become more manageable. The idea of keeping the business going on a smaller scale has crossed our minds. Maybe just for a couple more years, before both of the boys are in primary school.

This is the reality of running a business while raising little ones—there’s no clear roadmap. The lines blur between what we want and what we need, between work and family. And while the future of Lovera Collections remains uncertain, the one thing we know for sure is that we’re willing to keep fighting for it.

The Dandelion Spirit

If you’ve read the section "About Us" above, you’ll know that our logo is a dandelion. The symbolism behind it is important to us—it represents resilience and growth, even in the face of adversity. The dandelion may seem fragile, but it fights to survive, even in tough conditions.

Our journey with Lovera Collections has been much like that. We’ve taken "two steps forward, five steps back," but we keep going. We’re learning as we go, adjusting to what our family and business need. And that’s okay.

Conclusion: The Uncertainty Is Part of the Journey

We don’t have all the answers yet. Will we keep the business running? Will we close it completely? We’re not sure. But we’ve learned that sometimes, it’s okay to not have a clear direction. What matters is that we continue fighting and doing our best, for our family and our business.

Thank you for being with us on this journey. Whether Lovera Collections continues for another year, or whether this is the final chapter, we’re grateful for every step we’ve taken together.
